چکیده

A study of Rb and Rc is presented in the context of a Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) with flavor changing scalar currents (FCSC). Implications of the model for the ρ-parameter and for b → sγ are also considered. The experimental data on Rb places stringent constraints on the model parameters. The configuration of the model needed to account for Rb is found to be irreconcilable with constraints from b → sγ and ρ. In particular, if R b > R SM b persists then this version of 2HDM will be ruled out or require significant modifications. Noting that aspects of the experimental analysis for Rb and Rc may be of some concern, we also disregard R b and R exp c and give predictions for these using constraints from b → sγ and ρ parameter only. We emphasize the theoretical and experimental advantages of the observable Rb+c ≡ Γ(Z → bb̄ or cc̄)/Γ(Z → hadrons). We also stress the role of Rl ≡ Γ(Z → hadrons)/Γ(Z → l+l−) in testing the Standard Model (SM) despite its dependence on QCD corrections. Noting that in models with FCNC the amplitude for Z → cc̄ receives a contribution which grows with mt , the importance and uniqueness of precision Z → cc̄ measurements for constraining flavor changing tc̄ currents is underscored.

Flavor Changing Neutral Currents at μ + μ − Colliders

We illustrate the possibility of observing signals from Flavor Changing Neutral Currents, originating from the scalar sector of a Two Higgs Doublet Model. In particular, we focus on the tree level process µ + µ − → ¯ tc + ¯ ct, via scalar exchange in the s-channel, as a distinctive process for µ + µ − colliders.

The simplest extension of the standard model involves adding a scalar doublet–the so-called two-Higgs model. In general, the additional scalar will mediate tree-level flavor-changing neutral currents. Although one can arbitrarily impose a discrete symmetry to avoid these, it isn't necessary to do so; reasonable assumptions about the size of the flavor-changing couplings can make them sufficient...

A vector-like heavy quark in the Littlest Higgs model

The Littlest Higgs model contains a new vector-like heavy quark in the up sector. There are two interesting features of its existence. One is that it extends the 3 × 3 CKM matrix in the Standard Model to a 4 × 3 matrix and the other is that it allows Z-mediated flavor changing neutral currents at tree level in the up sector but not in the down sector. We examine a few of possible windows in whi...

Constraints on non - universal soft terms from flavor changing neutral currents

The smallness of flavor changing neutral currents constrains the soft parameter space of supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model. These low energy constraints are translated to the soft parameter space generated at some high energy scale MGUT. For gaugino masses larger than the scalar masses and non-universal A-terms the constraints are significantly diluted at MGUT and do allow for the...

Top-Quark Decay Via Flavor-Changing Neutral Currents at Hadron Colliders

We study low energy experimental constraints on an anomalous top-quark coupling associated with the flavor-changing neutral current vertex Zt̄c. In view of these constraints, we discuss the experimental observability of the induced rare decay mode t → Zc, both at the Fermilab Tevatron (with the Main Injector or a luminosity-upgrade) and at the LHC.

Search for flavor changing neutral currents in decays of top quarks

We present a search for flavor changing neutral currents in decays of top quarks. The analysis is based on a search for t ¯ t → ℓ ′ νℓ ¯ ℓ+jets (ℓ, ℓ ′ = e, µ) final states using 4.1 fb −1 of integrated luminosity of p¯ p collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV. We extract limits on the branching ratio B(t → Zq) (q = u, c quarks), assuming anomalous tuZ or tcZ couplings. We do not observe any sign of such...
